Casey Cross is a pianist, composer, coach and tutor in the Chicago area. He holds a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Central Oklahoma.

 

Casey has 5 years of experience working extensively throughout the greater Seattle area as a class and rehearsal pianist. He has worked with the University of Washington as a collaborative pianist for classical voice, opera and instrumental chamber music. He also has experience as a class pianist for ballet, tap, jazz and contemporary dance styles from the University of Washington, Issaquah Dance Theater, Dance Fremont, and The Ballet Studio. He has held titles such as musical theater pianist, conductor and coach with the University of Washington, and he is a returning rehearsal and audition pianist with the 5th Avenue Theatre and the Pacific Northwest Ballet. He is a dueling pianist and entertainer with over a year of performing consistently at Keys on Main in Seattle and Tacoma. He has also held several music director positions with the Episcopal church, including St. Paul’s, St. Columba’s, and most recently Grace Episcopal Church in Chicago.

Since moving to Chicago, Casey works as a class pianist for Ballet Chicago and A&A Ballet, as well as Music Director, composer, arranger, and pianist for Roosevelt University’s musical theatre program. On the stage, Casey can be seen performing around Chicago with the cabaret “You Be The Guy,” for which he serves as pianist, arranger, and occasional soloist. He has also pioneered his own show where he improvises pieces guided by audience participation.

Recently, Casey has begun his film composition career. In 2018 he composed the score for “Rook,” a short from Double Scope Films in El Paso, TX, and he is now developing a feature score with the same director. He has also been known to compose music for voiceover work and is developing a trailer music EP for release to music libraries. Casey teaches piano, voice and guitar, and he tutors music theory.
